The Head of the Department, Assist Prof. Dr. Ali Abar Khalif and a number of the department's staff and graduate students, attended the symposium held by the Center of Nanotechnology under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir "Sound Management of Scientific Research and Participation in world conferences" The university theater on the morning of Monday, 25/12/2017 where the symposium opened verses from the Quran recited by Engineer Asaad Hassan Leftah, and the opening speech was a specialized study by the respected President of the University… The symposium discussed several important scientific papers in the field of writing scientific research and participation in scientific conferences, including a paper by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Al-Tamimi, director of the Nanotechnology and the lecturer in the metallurgy engineering branch, and another by Dr. Abdul Khaleq Fawzi, Mining Engineering and Mineral Extraction In addition, Assist Prof. Dr. Adnan Ibrahim Mohamed participated in the Production Engineering Branch as establisher in one of the scientific sessions of the symposium.

A scientific visit to graduate students

The head of branch the Mining Engineering and Extractive Metallurgy, Dr. Sami Ibrahim Al-Rubaie, with professors from the Department of Chemical Engineering. Khalid and Mr. Bashir, in addition to Dr. Yassin from the Ministry of Science and Technology and Mr. Asaad Hassan Al Zamili represented by the Media Unit, Scientific visit on 20 December 2017 to the Central Oil Refineries Company - the Al Douraa refineries with PhD students from the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy branch Metallurgy Engineering and Master students from the Chemical Engineering Department, At the beginning of the visit, Dr. Ayed welcomed the professors and students in a speech in which he sure the need to activate the relationship between the university of technology and the company, especially the engineering departments that are directly related to the company's work, including the chemical engineering department and the engineering department of Production and Metallurgy. In a speech to the assistant general manager of the company, he explained the extent of the development that took place in the company after 2003, adding two production units with a capacity of 70 thousand barrels per day to reach the current capacity to 140 thousand barrels per day and there are units proposed to be established in Najaf, Diwaniyah and Samawa. The assistant general manager said that the company is needed to of research graduate students from the master and doctorate to break the traditional way to solve the problems of the company and move to the method of scientific research meticulous non-traditional, which reduces the gap between us and the developed countries. In a short presentation of the problems of the company, the assistant professor said that there are real problems waiting for the role of the university to solve them: - Problems in the operational units. - problems of accumulation of slag in the panic of reservoirs - the problems of erosion engineering towers refining - the presence of sulfur in crude oil and all these problems.

Participation of the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy in Celebration Graduation Day

The Head of the Department, Assist Prof. Dr. Ali Abar Khalif, participated in the big carnival held on the campus of the University of Technology on Thursday, 21/12/2017 on the occasion of the Graduation Ceremony for University Students. In the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi , The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof.. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa and the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir and his assistants. A number of deputies and heads of universities and professors and students. The student Sajaad Qasim Hasan demanded our department of the extraction branch to open this great forum by the KURAN KARIM, We are grateful to all our students and we bless all.

Celebrations of the Great Victory

 In conjunction with the celebrations of the great victory over the forces of evil and darkness, the Production Engineering and Metallurgy department  held a concert in solidarity with the brave army and the heroic security forces and the popular populist crowd, on Thursday, 14/12/2017 and as directed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research where the walls decorated with signs of love and thanks and praise to everyone who has made this great achievement and raised the voices of national songs and enthusiasm to sing on this occasion fragrant and gathered members and students at the gate of the section, expressing their joy and gratitude to The brave army and pure blood that rotated the soil of the country , at the end of the ceremony took a memorial photo attended by the head of the department in addition to a number of Lecturers, staff and students.

Scientific visit to the general company for industries mining

 Embodiment logo of the university of technology which department of production and   minerals seeks to embodiment it, the branch of engineering mining and metal extraction made scientific visit to the general company for industries mining with third and fourth grade students and each of their teachers prof. Sami Ibrahim Al-Rubaie president of the branch, Dr. Hijran Zain Al-Abdeen, Dr. Wafaa, Dr. Samar, Mr. Waleed Khaled, Mr. Ahmed and Eng. Raghda, after welcoming and warm reception from the gentlemen in the company Prof. Sami Al-Rubaie begin to provide a brief introduction for branch of engineering mining and metal extraction and orientation of the university of technology to be the university produced by adopting engineering department of production and minerals the dilemmas of work and development of quality for company products as are search for graduate students and research for the teachers also. And from this researches the extraction of silicon from Iraqi sand and project of re-run production lines of cathodes copper. Also Mr. Associate director-general of the company’s introduced a brief for the company and he explained that the general company for industries mining it’s one of the formation of ministry of industry and minerals which it has independence financial and administrative. And the company’s has two industrial identities first one in the field of industries chemical and second one in the field of industries mining .
