The head of branch the Mining Engineering and Extractive Metallurgy, Dr. Sami Ibrahim Al-Rubaie, with professors from the Department of Chemical Engineering. Khalid and Mr. Bashir, in addition to Dr. Yassin from the Ministry of Science and Technology and Mr. Asaad Hassan Al Zamili represented by the Media Unit, Scientific visit on 20 December 2017 to the Central Oil Refineries Company - the Al Douraa refineries with PhD students from the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy branch Metallurgy Engineering and Master students from the Chemical Engineering Department, At the beginning of the visit, Dr. Ayed welcomed the professors and students in a speech in which he sure the need to activate the relationship between the university of technology and the company, especially the engineering departments that are directly related to the company's work, including the chemical engineering department and the engineering department of Production and Metallurgy. In a speech to the assistant general manager of the company, he explained the extent of the development that took place in the company after 2003, adding two production units with a capacity of 70 thousand barrels per day to reach the current capacity to 140 thousand barrels per day and there are units proposed to be established in Najaf, Diwaniyah and Samawa. The assistant general manager said that the company is needed to of research graduate students from the master and doctorate to break the traditional way to solve the problems of the company and move to the method of scientific research meticulous non-traditional, which reduces the gap between us and the developed countries. In a short presentation of the problems of the company, the assistant professor said that there are real problems waiting for the role of the university to solve them: - Problems in the operational units. - problems of accumulation of slag in the panic of reservoirs - the problems of erosion engineering towers refining - the presence of sulfur in crude oil and all these problems.
